Faith, Love & Hope part 1

January 16, 2022 Speaker: Kyle Schwahn Series: Thessalonians

Passage: 1 Thessalonians 1:1–3

SMALL GROUP DISCUSSION:

- Paul begins his first letter to the Thessalonian believers by thanking God for the believers there. (1 Thessalonians 1:2) Why do you think Paul starts this way? What believers in your life are you thankful for? Do you regularly include other believers in your prayers?

- What is faith? Read Hebrews 11:6. Can we please God without faith? What part does trust play in faith?

- What is love? How important is love? (Read: John 13:34; 1 John 4:9-12; 1 John 4:18; 1 Corinthians 13:1-3) What are some ways our culture has redefined love? If love is saying and doing the best for another person in light of eternity, what are examples of love for others from your life?

- What is hope? How is godly hope more than a wish for the best? What does Jesus have to do with hope? What does Scripture have to do with hope? What is your greatest hope?
