Passage: 1 Corinthians 5:1–13

HOME GROUP DISCUSSION

-What was the specific sin that was happening in Corinth? Was Paul's main concern for the man who was sinning or for the church? Why?

-What is the "remedy" that the Corinthian church was to use in this situation? What different words for this remedy are used in this chapter? What does each communicate uniquely for church members?
-What part does grief and mourning over sin play in this passage? How does it relate to the removal of an unrepentant member?
-Why does removing a person from the communion of the body seem so unloving on the face of it? Why would failing to carry this out actually be unloving? Who are we truly loving when we're obedient to this charge?
