July 10, 2016 Speaker: Kyle Schwahn Series: Book of the 12

Passage: Zechariah 1:1– 14:21

HOME GROUP DISCUSSION

-The first chapter of Zechariah shows a concern for the city of Jerusalem (v. 12). Why was the city of Jerusalem such an important place to the people of Israel?

-Read Zechariah 2:1-12 as a group. What elements of that passage would provide hope to a suffering people? Which of those elements would you say is the most important and why?

-How does God's language of "dwelling in the midst" of the people/city connect to larger Biblical themes of God's presence?

-How is King Jesus presented to us in Zechariah 9:9-10? Why is peace such a vital component to His reign?

-How could the truth of this city of peace be a blessing to non-Christians in your life? How would you communicate it to them in light of Christ?

-At the end of the sermon, Kyle applied this theological theme to present suffering from Hebrews 10:1-11:40 and 13:1-25. In your own words, how does the city described in Zechariah empower us for faithfulness to Christ?
