Sermon Preview: YOU ARE... RESPONSIBLE

In tomorrow's sermon, we will hear a calling to us as a body of Christ from Hebrews 3:12-14. The statement of conviction for tomorrow's message will be: You are responsible to continually encourage one another to hold on to faith in Christ.

In this passage, the author of Hebrews shows that there is a great, negative potential in the lives of God's people. Just like in the wilderness generation of Israelites, it is all too easy to begin distrusting God's power, intention and wisdom. This unbelieving heart could even lead to turning away from God. Sin's deceitful power is great, to be sure. But God has graciously provided a means by which a person might stand strong against this pressure: the body of Christ. Our life together is to be a watchful one in which we care for one another's souls, concerned especially about the health of a person's faith in Christ. We are regularly to encourage and admonish one another so that a hardening of heart does not set in. Perseverance in faith is paramount, and God's people are God's means.

In preparation for tomorrow's message, I encourage you to read, pray through and meditate on Ephesians 4:11-16. May He graciously prepare our hearts to accept the call to watch over others.
